SLS Chapter 9

Shi Lingxi remained silent. He turned his eyes to the E6 zombie, which was covered with a layer of thick armour-like skin. It was one of the most powerful zombies Shi Lingxi had ever encountered alone. It also possessed the ability to suppress lower power levels.

But this was not the first time Shi Lingxi encountered such oppression. He was once chased by a C-level zombie. This E6 level zombie is nothing compared to that. He was even able to escape from that C-level zombie, so this E6 zombie’s suppression ought not to interfere with his thinking and actions

Zombies have a keen sense of smell and are extreme bloodthirsty. They could smell fresh blood from several kilometers away. Apart from the fatal point behind their heads, they do not have any other weaknesses. Moreover, unlike humans, they never get tired. 

So far, Shi Lingxi had been fighting against it using long-range attacks. Shooting it, then pulling back to hide in the jungle. Undoubtedly, if he fought with the zombie head-on, it could make him die with a single blow. 

Whenever Shi Lingxi climbed up a tree, the zombie would try and overturn the tree. Gradually, Lou Yuan realized that Shi Ling was not running away blindly, he was testing the attack power and reaction speed of the zombie.

“Bam! Bam! Roar! Roar! ” The zombie gave out some different roars, and the scarlet color in its eyes became more terrible. Shi Lingxi got excited seeing the zombie which had lost its thinking ability.

All of a sudden Shi Lingxi cut his palm and several drops of blood flowed down. Lou yuan frowned but didn’t make a move to stop him. As Shi Lingxi moved, he left his blood in more and more places. This bloody smell confused the zombie and it became crazier. 

“Bam!!!” Another tree fell, and the zombies let out a hoarse growl, “ROAR!!!!”

It was enraged by Shi Lingxi to a state of complete insanity. And this lack of control meant that it would certainly make some mistakes. 

Shi Lingxi who was waiting for an opportunity suddenly jumped from behind a tree, his tail hurled past with a strong force throwing the zombie down. Shi Lingxi didn’t hesitate to shoot again. With the remaining strength, he aimed at the zombie’s only weakness. 

If his attack was unsuccessful, he would no longer be able to escape and Lou Yuan would have to help him out. If that happened, he would be completely disqualified from entering Lou Yuan’s team. 

He quickly calculated the attack method in his mind. At the same time, he tried his best to mobilize all his strength. He had no choice other than to act or perish.

A white phantom flashed by, “Bang!” The head of the E6 zombie exploded like a watermelon, the turbid blood splattered everywhere. A pale red crystal core was embedded in the blood. Like a lotus in mud, it gave off a morose beauty. 

At the same time, Shi Lingxi, who had overdrawn his abilities, was about to fall down.  The sharp stones scattered on the ground might have hurt him, but with Lou yuan around such things would not happen. 

Lou Yuan didn’t know why he had arrived at Shi Lingxi’s side, it was a subconscious action. He wrapped an arm around Shi Lingxi and let the whole person lean on him. Then he picked up Shi Lingxi. 

Shi Lingxi was tired to the point where he could only move his eyes. He raised his eyes and looked a little surprised.

“What? Do you think you can walk? ” Lou Yuan lowered his gaze and asked Shi Lingxi. It should be mentioned that everyone who collapsed during Lou Yuan’s training was directly dragged back by their collar… Lou Yuan didn’t know why he personally carried Shi Lingxi. 

“No, no, I can’t…” Shi Lingxi lowered his voice feeling a sense of suffocation.

In Lou Yuan’s opinion, he is a very fierce individual. So when he heard Shi Lingxi’s words, he assumed that Shi Lingxi felt wronged… Well, he wasn’t that cruel to Shi Lingxi, right? No, it must be said that he was very demanding today. But the special training was also for Shi Lingxi’s sake.

However, Shi Lingxi’s reaction wasn’t Lou yuan’s fault at all, it was the system’s. Shi Lingxi was surprised and embarrassed that Lou Yuan took the initiative to embrace him, but the main task released by the system showed no signs of completion.

Was Lou Yuan holding him in the wrong way? Shi Lingxi rolled his eyes and thought about it. Lou Yuan was holding him in a ‘princess hug’. This system’s nitpickiness was beyond his imagination. 

“Close your eyes and take a good rest,” On hearing Lou Yuan’s voice, Shi Lingxi closed his eyes subconsciously. While he was resting in Lou yuan’s arms, Shi Lingxi was wondering how to transform this “Princess hug” into the “hug” he needed.

After Shi Lingxi closed his eyes, Lou Yuan’s complexion was a bit tangled and uneasy. Even just now he used a fierce tone to talk with Shi Lingxi. It’s over, he thought. Any good feelings Shi Lingxi had towards him would be dispelled today. 

Lou Yuan, who had been caught up in his thoughts, was still very stable and fast while holding Shi Lingxi. He walked towards the camp steadily with Shi Lingxi in his arms. At the same time, his strong mental force swept through destroying all those zombies and beasts that were attracted by Shi Lingxi’s blood.

Soon after they left, a team of ten led by Chen Yun came to the area which was ravaged by the E6 zombie.

“The boss is fierce enough, Shi Lingxi is also fierce towards himself…” But Shi Lingxi’s ability to kill the enemy using this method showed that his fighting consciousness was not weak, and he is indeed qualified to enter Lou Yuan’s team. 

After looking around Chen Yun and the others understood what had happened there. Then they collected crystal nuclei and cleaned up the blood left by Shi Lingxi.

Lou Yuan walked back holding Shi Lingxi for nearly an hour, and finally, the camp was in front of him. After an hour’s rest, Shi Lingxi had recovered some strength. He squinted his eyes quietly and opened them, only to close them again. Then he slowly raised his hand and put it on Lou Yuan’s shoulder. He shivered, probably due to nerves, then wrapped his arm around Lou Yuan firmly.

Shi Lingxi took a deep breath and rested his head on Lou Yuan’s shoulder. At the same time, his hands looped around Lou Yuan’s neck and were clasped together.

Lou Yuan’s body was slightly stiff, and he continued to walk forward, but the shoulder and neck where Shi Lingxi leaned on had a sense of being that could not be ignored. It was clear that Shi Lingxi was as thin as a skeleton. But why did he feel that Shi Lingxi’s weight had an unprecedented presence?

Then Shi Lingxi, who kept his eyes closed, smiled. He was right. He finally heard the sound of the system notifying the completion of the task.

“System A236 congratulates the host, Show Love Main Task 1: Get Lou Yuan to actively hug the host (rating E – simple), has been completed! The host completed the task within 48 hours and received a C-level effort buff. The C-level task rewards have been distributed to your personal space. Kindly check them.”

Shi Lingxi who had finished the task was more relaxed. He unconsciously rubbed against Lou Yuan’s neck and asked softly, “So… Is this a good way to hug? ” 

Lou Yuan glanced down at Shi Lingxi who seemed to be sneakily happy, it wasn’t against his will to say, ‘Hmm.” 

Shi Lingxi opened his eyes and took a look at Lou yuan’s side profile. The joy he hadn’t been able to process before, slowly began to ferment in his mind. He smiled and whispered,  “Lou Yuan, I did it. You have to keep your word.”

“Alright.” Lou Yuan was straightforward. Shi Lingxi could kill the E6 zombie above his level, so he was qualified to join his team. However, this must be decided after Shi Lingxi returns to Beicheng and sees his parents. 

Shi Lingxi didn’t speak anymore. His spirit had reached the limit, so he fell asleep. At the same time, his originally limp tail swept up, and slowly curled around Lou Yuan’s waist.

The irregularity of Lou Yuan’s expression was more obvious now. He had never thought that Shi Lingxi, who was always seemed strong and sensible, would have such a grueling moment.

He walked through the camp entrance with Shi Lingxi in his arms, blinding almost one hundred iron-blooded soldiers who were patrolling the area.

Their eyes almost popped out. They were craning their necks, seemingly wanting to go directly to Lou Yuan, but they didn’t dare to move from their spots. 

But… Lou Yuan and Shi Lingxi were embracing each other too intimately. Shi Lingxi had fallen asleep on Lou Yuan’s shoulders. They looked like close lovers, not ordinary teammates or comrades in arms or something. 

“System A236 congratulates the host. The mainline task exceeded one hundred onlookers. The first ‘show’ achievement has been completed opening the achievement tasks. The rewards have been distributed to the portable space, kindly request the host to check.”

Systems words couldn’t cause any waves in Shi Lingxi’s heart. He had fallen into a deep sleep and had no perception of the outside world. First of all, Shi Lingxi was really tired, in addition, he deeply trusted Lou Yuan. 

Lou Yuan directly carried Shi Ling Xi back to his room and put the person on the bed, but he couldn’t straighten up. Shi Lingxi’s hand fell to one side, but his tail was still firmly looped around Lou Yuan’s waist.

Lou yuan’s action was very careful as he tried not to disturb Shi Lingxi. He gently touched Shi Linxi’s tail to make him get used to the touch of his hand, and then covered it with the quilt. He sighed as if he had completed some arduous task.

He found the medicine box in the room, dealt with Shi Lingxi’s hand, and then brought water to wipe his face and upper body. Lou Yuan frowned as he saw Shi Lingxi’s undernourished appearance. 

After that, he went to the sofa on the other side, sat down and closed his eyes, trying to collect his somewhat divergent thoughts. Just now, he had touched Shi Lingxi’s tail for a long time. Even then, he had the impulse to touch it again.

This was too abnormal. For instance, when Xiong Kun turned into a bear he only felt a bit repulsed.

Shi Lingxi woke up to a strong smell of meat. He opened his eyes and was stunned for a while. Then he found that the meat of mutant animals was cooking on the table in the room and Lou Yuan was seasoning it seriously.

Shi Lingxi blinked his eyes again and again. After sweeping the tail to one side, he got up and found out that he had recovered some physical strength. However, his hands and legs were still very weak. He went to the table and sat down. His eyes finally moved from the food to Lou Yuan’s face.

Lou Yuan glanced at Shi Lingxi and knew what he was going to ask, so he said in advance, “I mean what I say.”

If he can’t keep his word on the Beicheng, then no one can.

“Hmm…” Shi Lingxi whispered. When his drowsiness faded, he nodded again, and said more loudly, “OKAY!”

“Let’s eat.” Lou Yuan grabbed some pieces of meat into a bowl and pushed it towards Shi Lingxi. 

Shi Lingxi glanced at the cooked meat, then placed half of it into Lou yuan’s bowl, “You first… no, we’ll eat together!”

“Good…” A faint smile surged in Lou Yuan’s eyes, and he continued to stir the meat with a big spoon. Shi Lingxi saw that Lou Yuan was busy, so he picked up a piece of meat with his fork and sent it to Lou yuan’s mouth.

Lou yuan saw Shi Lingxi’s insistence, thus he opened his mouth and nodded, “OK.”
